The following article attempts to sketch the main features of the current crisis. Written in Italian, we are pleased to be now publishing an Arabic version of it. It ranges from the social causes of the covid-19 pandemic, by taking into consideration the role played by agribusiness exploitation of the environment (which over the past decades has increasingly brought about pathogens spillovers) to public health systems disruption caused by profit driven austerity and privatizing policies, through the dramatic effects on public health of hundreds of thousands of working class people forced to gather in factories, warehouses, supermarkets etc. with no PPE whatsoever. The article also deals with the abysmal economic crisis presently unfolding before our eyes ending with a call for working class people to coordinate internationally and stand up to the upcoming brutal measures capitalist forces are about to adopt to try and overcome the crisis they have actually generated.
