Corea del Sud – oggi, sciopero generale indetto dal KCTU, materiali, foto, video (italiano – english)

E’ avvenuto oggi lo sciopero generale in Sud Corea, indetto dal sindacato KCTU, il cui presidente è da oltre un mese tenuto in prigione. Riportiamo un primo resoconto dai media coreani, e sotto un primo comunicato del sindacato. Il comunicato dei media tende, come d’obbligo, a sminuire la portata dell’adesione allo sciopero. Fatto sta che mobilitare 12.000 poliziotti per impedire la manifestazione significa pur qualcosa, o no?

SEOUL, 20 ottobre (Yonhap) – I membri di un’organizzazione sindacale militante sono scesi in strada nel centro di Seul mercoledì come parte di uno sciopero generale di un giorno; alcuni di loro si sono scontrati con la polizia che cercava di bloccare la loro marcia.

I manifestanti affiliati alla Confederazione coreana dei sindacati (KCTU) si sono riversati in massa nelle strade del centro intorno alle 13:30 e hanno iniziato a marciare verso la stazione di Seodaemun, tenendo bandiere e striscioni che rivendicavano i diritti dei lavoratori.

Alcuni di loro si sono azzuffati con la polizia che cercava di impedire loro di muoversi verso il luogo della manifestazione. La polizia ha mobilitato circa 12.000 poliziotti e ha allestito recinzioni e muri di autobus nel centro di Seul per impedire la manifestazione.

Il numero esatto dei partecipanti alla manifestazione non è stato reso noto, anche se si prevedeva che circa 25.000-30.000 scioperanti si sarebbero uniti alla protesta nel centro di Seul, secondo il KCTU. Il KCTU aveva pianificato di organizzare manifestazioni di protesta su larga scala in 14 città e province in tutto il paese, tra cui Seul e Busan, come parte dello sciopero che coinvolge circa 500.000, circa la metà dei suoi 1,1 milioni di membri, per portare in primo piano le questioni del lavoro in vista delle elezioni presidenziali del 2022. Ma il numero effettivo dei partecipanti allo sciopero dovrebbe essere molto inferiore.

Qui di seguito la presa di posizione di solidarietà internazionalista del SI Cobas verso i camionisti sud-coreani e il loro sindacato KPTU-TruckSol duramente colpiti da un lato dalla politica anti-sindacale di una grande azienda, dall’altro dalla repressione statale, e la denuncia – da parte dei lavoratori coreani – delle condizioni di super-sfruttamento esistenti in quella che si vanta di essere la decima potenza industriale del mondo, il fiore all’occhiello statunitense in Asia. La KCTU si avvia verso lo sciopero generale del 20 ottobre, e per questo il regime democratico lì vigente, con una metodica che ricorda quella fascista, ha pensato bene di arrestarne preventivamente il presidente. Basterà a frenarne l’impeto?

Solidarity to Korean truck drivers against employer and government repression!

The Korean government, which had the president of the KCTU union arrested ahead of the general strike on 20 October, has now sent 3,600 police to attack truck drivers on strike against the SPC group (a large bakery products chain), which has cancelled two union agreements signed a few months ago; they have arrested more than 100 workers who are members of the KPTU-TruckSol transport union.

This is a very serious attack, in which the ‘democratic'(!) state uses its monopoly of force to support the bosses against workers who have united to defend their conditions from exploitation by capital.

In Korea, as in Italy and all over the world, governments support the bosses against workers.

In the last month again, near Milan, large police forces have repeatedly attacked the pickets of the UNES warehouse workers, who have been suspended from work for over a month mbecause they went on strike.

Solidarity to Yang Kyung-soo and the militant union KCTU, against repression by the Korean Government

80,000 precarious workers gathered in the KCTU’s national workers rally for abolishment of the recent revision of Minimum Wage Act and precarious works. For the last one year under the Moon government, no progress has made in terms of trade union rights and regularization of precarious jobs.

SI Cobas expresses its outrage and condemnation of the arrest of Yang Kyung-soo, leader of the Korean trade union KCTU, aimed at preventing the general strike of 20 October in preparation. The pretext: he organised a demonstration on 3 July in Seoul with 4,701 (according to the police count) participants (with masks and social distancing), which was not authorised under the pretext of Covid. Only three of the participants in the demonstration later tested positive to Covid. On 2 September, dozens of policemen surrounded the union headquarters before dawn to arrest Yang.

Everywhere in the world, even in Italy, the governments of the bosses have used and continue to use the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent or restrict the right of workers to meet, demonstrate and strike, and to hit combative trade unions with hundreds of fines and complaints. SI Cobas replies that “if we can work, we can also strike, meet and march”, while respecting the anti Covid rules”. But the arrest of the Korean trade union leader is a very serious political fact, an attack on the trade union organisation and the one million workers who are members of the KCTU, and an attack on their freedom to strike, because the aim is to prevent the general strike of 20 October against the government. SI Cobas suffered a similar attack with the arrest of its national coordinator Aldo Milani in 2017 on the basis of a judicial and police set-up, and hundreds of charges against workers and organisers for strikes, but Korea has a special history of anti-union repression.
